University of Dayton Army ROTC Spring Formal

At the end of February, The University of Dayton Army ROTC hosted its annual Spring Formal, otherwise known as a "Dining-Out."  A Dining-Out is a formal Army event to which guests are invited.  The spring event is an opportunity to introduce Cadets and their families to rich Army traditions.

Cadets brought their dates and families to the formal dinner at the Dayton Convention Center.  The event celebrated the semester's achievements, recognized scholarship winners, and built esprit de corps within the organization.  For senior Cadets, this was the last time they came together as a class to celebrate the program's achievements.

The guest speaker for the event was Command Sergeant Major Trevor Walker, Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army Security Forces Assistance Command.  He offered advice for new lieutenants about how to succeed as junior officers.

Several scholarships were presented at the event.  The Brian J. Bentz Memorial Scholarship was presented by COL (Ret.) Bill (UD '60) and Karla Bentz to this year's awardee, Cadet Rachel VewDow.  The MAJ John A. Petric Memorial Scholarship was presented by Mrs. Linda Petric to this year's awardee, Cadet Colin Morris.  The Robert M. Wallace Scholarship was awarded to Cadet Abigail Hermann.  Congratulations to all of our scholarship winners, and congratulations to all of our cadets for their hard work and dedication to the program!
