President's Blog: From the Heart

A Grateful Heart

By Eric F. Spina

(In a Thanksgiving message to the campus community, President Eric Spina gives thanks for the immeasurable ways students, faculty and staff "make UD a home away from home.")

Dear University of Dayton Family,

“Joy springs from a grateful heart,” Pope Francis writes.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude this Thanksgiving. I have felt the joy this semester as we’ve lived, learned, served, and prayed together in community, all while doing our best to protect the health of each other.

That’s why this Thanksgiving takes on deeper meaning — and brings forth greater gratitude. With humility and grace, we’ve learned not to take everyday moments for granted.

As I gather with Karen, Kaitlyn, and Emery around the Thanksgiving table, I will pray, reflect — and give thanks for each of you and the immeasurable ways you make UD a home away from home.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with gratitude and joy.

Wishing you and your families countless blessings,

Eric F. Spina
President
