Hello! My name is Corey, although many of my friends refer to me as Pooks, and I am from South Bend, IN. I am majoring in Environmental Biology with a minor in Human Rights. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog posts! Hopefully I can provide an accurate glimpse into the marveling opportunities and experience that comes along with being a University of Dayton student. Perhaps there will be a few laughs along the way as well! If our paths ever cross, I will be sure to greet you with my goofy gap-toothed smile.

Why UD: Similar to every other soul-searching high school senior visiting potential schools, I went on a UD campus tour with my parents. About halfway through the tour, my mother leaned over to me and whispered, “Yeah, you should probably go to school here.” Certainly it was not a coincidence that I was thinking the exact same thing. My parents and I were set on UD for a few reasons. First and foremost, the University of Dayton has the resources and opportunities of a state university with the closely-knit community of a smaller college, which creates an atmosphere unlike any other. I felt I would achieve my maximum potential in this environment. Secondly, while visiting UD, every person I encountered was extremely friendly and welcoming. It made me want to be one of the many smiling UD students I saw walking to class. Lastly, and possibly an overlooked characteristic of UD, I liked the 20-30 student course size. This would allow me to interact with my professors on a personal level and seek assistance when confronted with difficult course material. When it came time to make my college decision, I knew I wanted to attend a school where I could grow both intellectually and experientially. The University of Dayton was the perfect fit!
