Selling Back Your Books

By Alexandria Erin

Here are some different ways you can sell your books back at the end of the semester.

If you bought your books from the bookstore and you’re looking to get money for them, don’t sell them back before finals week. If you sell them back before finals week you will not get as much money for them as you would if you sold them back the week of finals.

Some other options to selling your books back are included in these website links:

This article, by Erin Huffstetler, talks about all different ways you can sell your books back for the most cash. From plugging the books ISBN number into to see what online book buyers will pay for them, to tips for first-time book sellers and how to receive the full amount that a re-seller offers you.

Another article, by Jacob Shamsian, gives three examples of how to declutter your home by selling your books. The three examples he goes more in-depth into in the article are, offloading them to a local used bookstore, sell your books on Amazon, and to just let Amazon sell your books for you.

I sometimes keep the ones I think I’ll use again in life if they aren’t used or borrowed! I honestly have a little book collection just from college. Mostly they are the photography books I got for my photography classes.

My last advice for this area is to do some research to get the best bang for your buck.

I personally have found that selling my books back to the bookstore in the beginning of finals week has gotten me the most money, however, there have been books I needed for later on in the week and I wasn’t able to get enough money for them. With these books, I’ve kept them and plan to sell them online, but I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet!
