Sharing the Joy That Is ‘At the Manger’

By Ann Zlotnik

The candle for the third week of Advent is special. It is rose instead of purple. It symbolizes joy — the joy we feel knowing that the birth of Christ is very near.

Year after year, we hear how much joy the At the Manger: World Nativity Traditions exhibit brings to those who come to the University of Dayton campus to see it. It has become a Christmas tradition to many in the Dayton area. This year, the exhibit spans different cultures to showcase crèches made from clay, wood, tin and paper. It is the Marian Library’s gift to you for the third week of Advent. Visit the virtual Advent wreath to watch a video featuring selections from the 2021 exhibit.

Ann Zlotnik is a graphic designer and the communications and creative coordinator for the University Libraries and the Marian Library.
