Title: Rosary Thursday

Theme: Sanctification of Priests

Date: January 28, 2021

Time: Noon Eastern time

Location: Online

Like many millions of people across the globe you may already be praying the Rosary on Thursdays. Worldpriest is now naming each Thursday as Rosary Thursday and invites you to offer your Rosary on that day for the sanctification of priests, which is also the Worldpriest Annual Global Rosary Relay prayer intention.

On the last Thursday of each month The Worldpriest Global Apostolate is planning a virtual Rosary Thursday.

In 2002, Pope John Paul II invited Catholics to pray the Mysteries of Light on Thursdays.  These mysteries focus on the public life of Jesus, the Light of the world.  Included are Jesus' Baptism, the Wedding Feast of Cana, His revealing of God's Kingdom, His Transfiguration; and the Institution of the Eucharist.

This prayer time for Rosary Thursday will take the form of a virtual Rosary at 6 p.m. local Rome time, being prayed for the sanctification of priests and the intentions of Pope Francis.  Everyone around the world--regardless of their location--will be very welcome to join in this important time of prayer.  However, all participants will need to register by simply clicking on the link below.

This virtual Rosary Thursday will make use of Zoom technology. It will open at 17.40 hours, with a slide show selection of photographs from various Global Rosary prayer locations from around the world, before the prayers begin at 18.00 hours, concluding at 18.30 hours.

Statement Regarding the Devotion to Our Lady of America [Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend] May 7, 2020

The undersigned bishops issue the following statement in our capacity as the bishops of the dioceses where alleged visions, locutions, and private revelations were said to have occurred in relation to the devotion to "Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin."

The devotion of "Our Lady of America" originated in a series of private revelations to Sister Mary Ephrem (baptized Mildred) Neuzil, many of which took place within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Sister Neuzil was born in 1916 and was professed in 1933 into the Congregation of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, whose generalate resided in Dayton, Ohio (within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati).

On June 16, 1957, Sister Neuzil became part of a contemplative branch of the same congregation, which was located at Our Lady of the Nativity Convent at New Riegel, Ohio (in the Diocese of Toledo-in-America).  The contemplative branch of the congregation was suppressed in 1979, at which time the sisters took up residence in Seneca County, Ohio....

While Our Lady of Guadalupe is recognized as the Patroness of North, Central, and South America, Our Lady is the specific Patroness of the United States of America under her title as the Immaculate Virgin.  As such, the faithful may indeed pray to Our Lady, the Immaculate Virgin, as the Patroness of America.  At the same time, such private devotion should in no way imply approval or acceptance of purported revelations, visions, or locutions attributed to Sister Mary Ephrem (Mildred) Neuzil other than as her own subjective inner religious experiences.

Inspiring Documentary Profiles Hollywood's Favorite Priest Who Promoted the Power of Prayer among America's Most Iconic Celebrities (Press Release), January 15, 2021

PRAY: THE STORY OF PATRICK PEYTON is an inspiring documentary about a poor, uneducated Irish immigrant who sets sail for America in 1928 with nothing but his faith and dreams of becoming a millionaire.  Arriving in Pennsylvania and unable to find work, he accepts the position as a janitor at the cathedral, which rekindles his long lost desire to become a priest and changes the course of his life.

Nearing ordination, his life takes a radical turn when he is stricken with tuberculosis.  Facing certain death, he sinks into despair.  A visit from his mentor, who delivers a simple message to pray, lifts the darkness.  Taking his advice to heart, Patrick prays fervently to Mary, the Mother of Christ, for her intercession and he experiences a miraculous recovery.

Feeling deep gratitude, he dedicates his life to telling all the world about the power of prayer and encourages families everywhere to bring prayer into their homes.  Never taking 'No' for an answer, he convinces Hollywood's biggest stars to help him spread the message--The family that prays together stays together--through the power of mass media including radio, television, and film.  Father Peyton's fame spreads around the world; and audiences in the millions flock to his public prayer rallies.  This is the story of a tireless missionary, an unlikely hero, and one of history's greatest advocates for family prayer....
