Book on Marian Apparitions

Refractions of Light: 201 Answers on Apparitions, Visions, and the Catholic Church by Kevin Symonds is a fascinating study on how one should examine the various heavenly occurrences that have been reported to us over the past several hundred years, by using the proper guiding tools that Symonds has provided.  Don't miss Symonds' interview with Doug Keck on EWTN Bookmark.  Refractions of Light is available from the EWTN Religious Catalog.

Title: A New World of Mary - Part II

Topic: Free online Marian conference, hosted by the Legion of Mary

Dates: Sunday, July 5, 2020

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Virtual

Guest Speakers: Father John Harris, O.P.; and Father Pat Deegan

God has given Mary, Our Mother, a unique role in His plan for the world.  The apostles and the early Christians understood this, and the Church has always acknowledged Mary's special place in our redemption.  As the 21st century gallops along at an alarming rate, Mary continues to call us back to her Son.  In several church approved apparitions, she implores us to pray, pray, pray.  This conference will reflect on Mary's appeal to her children (that's us!) and how together we can build A New World of Mary.

Loreto Litanies: Three New Invocations to the Virgin Mary Desired by the Pope (Zenit), June 22, 2020

Pope Francis decided to insert three new invocations to the Virgin Mary in the “Litanies of Loreto” dedicated to Her: “Mother of Mercy” (Mater Misericordiae), “Mother of Hope” (Mater Spei) and “Comfort of Migrants” (Solacium Migrantium)

In a letter to the Presidents of the Episcopal Conference, published on June 20, 2020, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments stressed that prayer to the Virgin Mary is a "privileged and sure way of encounter with Christ."

Letter of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments

From the Vatican, June 20, 2020--Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Eminence,

The Church, on pilgrimage to Heaven's Holy Jerusalem--to enjoy inseparable communion with Christ, her Spouse and Savior--walks along the paths of history entrusting herself to Her who believed in the Lord's word.  We know, in fact,  from the Gospel that Jesus' disciples learned from the beginning to praise the "blessed among all women" and to count on Her maternal intercession.

One cannot name the titles and the invocations that, in the course of the centuries, Christian piety has given to the Virgin Mary, privileged and sure way of encounter with Christ.  In our time also, which is going through reasons of uncertainty and bewilderment, pious recourse to Her, full of affection and confidence, is particularly dear to the People of God.

Interpreter of this sentiment, the Sovereign Pontiff Francis, receiving the desires expressed, wished to establish that, in the formulary of the litanies of the blessed Virgin Mary, called "of Loreto," the following invocations be inscribed: Mater Misericordiae, Mater Spei, and Solacium Migrantium....
