Buttons, Tattoos and Special Collections

New students who missed the popular music festival Coachella get a second chance when they gather at Roesch library today for our very own Roeschella! The University Libraries’ new student orientation features “stages” where students will learn about the different university resources available to them through fun games and activities. The event also offers delicious snacks and playful takeaway items.

At the Special Collections stage, students can view a selection of the many holdings from the Marian Library, University Archives and Special Collections, and the U.S. Catholic collections. There will be examples of rare books, archives, and art objects from all of these collections. While there, students can also craft a button, relax and unwind with some coloring, or add a little edge to their festival-going look with a temporary tattoo of a Marian flower.

If you’re a new student who didn’t make it to the Special Collections stage or you couldn’t attend Roeschella, don’t worry! You can check out all of the images that Special Collections featured in their activities by clicking through the photo gallery below, and even print out your own coloring pages.

Come visit University Archives and Special Collections, U.S. Catholic, and the Marian Library to see more!
