LTC

LTC at Night

Most academic offices close at 4:30 pm, but the LTC is open until midnight during the school year.  So what goes on in the LTC at night?

There are classes, student meetings, and study groups.  A lot of fraternities and sororities have evening study tables.  We host student clubs like the UD Equestrian Club, UD Miracle, and executive committees of the Greek organizations.  We also have students who use the rooms individually or even in groups so that they can practice presentations or go over school work.

The Blend stays open until midnight, so coffee is served late into the night.  Not many people know that The Blend offers half-price coffee the last 15 minutes of the night from 11:45 pm to midnight.

At the front desk, we respond to any questions from students and other visitors, answer phones (which don’t often ring at night), and get ready for the next day.  We make sure the rooms are cleaned and straightened up for the next morning. Our staff typically sets up for any event before 10 am the next day. Once rooms are cleaned and arranged for the next day’s events, they are locked for the evening.  We also clean the common area and straighten furniture to look inviting.

The level of busyness in the evenings depends on the academic calendar.  We are very busy during accounting blocks, midterms, and finals week. Our popularity during finals week is highest when free pizza is available; the line is usually out the door.  If you’re on campus after 4:30 pm, grab a coffee and bring your grading, class prep, or studying to the LTC.
