Teaching Fellows Wraps Up 2018-19

The 2018-19 cohort of Teaching Fellows was smaller than usual, with 13 participants, but the group facilitated sessions on a broad array of topics including classroom management, teaching with technology,  and inclusive teaching.

Teaching Fellows has been in place since the 1980s but has undergone significant changes recently.  In 2017, the Teaching Fellows Planning/Support Team (Saverio Perugini, Computer Science; Julie Simon, Mathematics; Sam Wallace, Communication; and Susan Brown, Rachel Normile, and David Wright, LTC) transitioned from planning and conducting all sessions to guiding individual Teaching Fellows as they selected topics of interest and facilitated the sessions.   Feedback from 2017-18 Fellows showed the Planning/Support Team where participants needed more help, and where they needed less. Feedback from this past year indicated that the Fellows appreciated the opportunity to stretch themselves and learn about campus resources.

Teaching Fellows supports newer full-time faculty.  Interested faculty should speak to their department chairs.
