Porch Reads: ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama

Porch Reads, the University Libraries’ undergraduate book club, invites students to read and discuss the best-selling memoir Becoming by Michelle Obama.

In the memoir, Obama chronicles the experiences that shaped her — from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work to her eight years in the White House. With honesty, reflection and wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments.

Interested students can sign up via email and pick up a free book at the services desk on the second floor of Roesch Library. Quantities are limited. The discussion, facilitated by Sam Ortiz, associate director for campus and community engagement, is 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Roesch Library Collab (Room 240). Food and drinks will be provided.
