Experience Accelerated Collaboration Nov. 8: Spotlight on Concourse D

In the summer of 2017, as part of the third annual Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT) Collaboration Accelerator, a team of 12 UD students were asked a somewhat outlandish question: “What is a library without books?” Their answer, after several weeks of research and creative development: Concourse D — a project development studio for students, faculty and university affiliates to connect, collaborate and create.
Now installed on the second floor of Roesch Library, the Concourse D prototype has work tables, crafting materials, whiteboards, storage space and more, all openly available for use in the innovation process. Concourse D is intended to help people build relationships with others who share the same passions yet have different skill sets. It creates an equal playing field for people at all life stages, disciplines and experiences.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, a special event called Spotlight on Concourse D will give people from UD and the greater Dayton community the opportunity to explore and experience this project studio. There, students will describe Concourse D and the Collaboration Accelerator process, which is designed to bring about creative solutions to real-world challenges posed by community partners.
Attendees will see real projects come to life in the space; provide feedback on the setup; share ideas; and learn more about the library’s renovation plans to make the prototype permanent.
Side note: Spotlight on Concourse D doesn’t end on Nov. 8. Open hours and drop-in working sessions will begin soon.
