Nativity Paintings

The Marian Library is pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the Nativity paintings of Ruth Sanderson as part of this year's At the Manger exhibit.

Since graduating from the Paier College of Art in 1974, Ruth Sanderson has illustrated more than 80 books for children. Her artistic inspiration came from a combination of iconography, Renaissance paintings and illuminated manuscripts. Several of the paintings on display came from The Nativity, first published by Little, Brown and Co. in 1992. Sanderson also has written and illustrated two picture books on the lives of the saints — Saints: Lives and Illuminations and More Saints: Lives and Illuminations. She is well-known for her fairy tale picture books, including The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Papa Gatto, Cinderella, The Snow Princess and The Enchanted Wood.

At the Manger is open through January 12For hours and additional information, visit go.udayton.edu/manger
