We welcome back Jillian Ewalt who recently rejoined Full-Time Faculty at the University of Dayton as Lecturer/Librarian in the Marian Library for the next two years.
As a Librarian in the Marian Library, Jillian manages collection development and assessment, and provides reference, instruction, and outreach for Marian Library collections.

New Release of Marian Music
Ave Maria: The Myth of Mary collects different interpretations of the classic hymn from a wide array of artists, including Chanticleer, Placido Domingo, Thomas Hampson, and Sumi Jo. I Fagiolini performs Edvarg Grieg's Ave Maris Stella, Sarah Brightman sings Mozart's Alleluja, and Julia Zenko interprets Astor Piazzolla's Yo Soy Maria. The Tigerlillies' Maria and Jane Siberry's Mary Had a Little Lamb add a modern edge to this eclectic collection of songs about the Virgin Mary.

October 2 , 1817--First Marianist Profession of Vows by Brother John Samaha, S.M.
On October 2, 1817 the founding Marianists professed vows before Blessed William Joseph Chaminade after completing their retreat at Saint-Laurent in Bordeaux, France. This was the beginning of the Society of Mary (Marianists).

On September 20, 2018, Pope Francis received in audience--in the Hall of the Consistory of the Apostolic Vatican Palace--the participants in the Congress of the Sons of Holy Mary Immaculate, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of Venerable Joseph Frassinetti, Founder of the Congregation of the Sons of Holy Mary Immaculate.
Below is a translation of the Pope's address to those present at the audience.

The Holy Father's Address
Dear Brothers and Sisters, good morning!
I welcome you on the occasion of your Congress, with which you celebrate the 150th anniversary of the passage to eternal life of Venerable Joseph Frassinetti, and I thank the Superior General, Father Amici, for the words he addressed to me in the name of all. I have appreciated that in the Congress there was a fraternal collaboration between the clergy and the laity, with the presence of numerous Religious. It is one of the signs of the times of the Church today; but it's also one of the elements that characterized the Founder's ministry: the promotion of the apostolate of the laity, men and women. I exhort you to continue on this path, rendering your parish and religious Communities places in which is breathed a spirit of family, of hospitality, of respect and of generous apostolic collaboration....

Call to the coasts of Ireland on October 7, 2018 (Press Release) July 20, 2018
Friends,
We are in a new situation, our leaders flying out from their nests of power, circle the island like vultures waiting to swoop.
In the South, they have pulled off a resounding victory for abortion and now eagerly await court clearance to start the killing. They scream: “The North is Next.” They have the weak in their sights, already working on euthanasia legislation and a referendum to remove constitutional recognition of their protectors/carers (the so called “Women in the Home” article). They are claiming the Catholic schools and hospitals. And to ensure that there is no resistance (for these are scavengers not noble hunters), they promote exclusion zones, override conscience, legitimize blasphemy, degrade the study of history, silence opposition and even presume to redefine what it means to be Catholic.
We who shelter in Mary’s Immaculate Heart must rise to this challenge as previous Irish generations have. We must resist with a wider and infinitely stronger circle, reclaiming our land with the Rosary. We must pull our languishing Church, schools, hospitals, and most especially our families and children out of harm’s way and beg God to grace them with a strong faith once again.
Sunday, October 7, 2018 is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the 35th Anniversary of the 8th Amendment. We again call you to the coasts of Ireland to pray the Rosary for Life and Faith in repentance, reparation and reclamation for Jesus Christ, King of Ireland....
