The Marian Library Invites the Community to Celebrate with Music
Taking its name from the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Marian Consort is a young, dynamic and internationally renowned early music vocal ensemble, recognized for its freshness of approach and innovative presentation of a broad repertoire.
The group will perform selections from two vibrant periods in musical history, juxtaposing settings from the Tudor era with modern treatments of Marian texts by British composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. The contemporary compositions reflect the sensibilities of the 16th-century works while exploring the possibilities of modern vocal and harmonic idiom. It results in a striking listening experience: the voice of the past in the language of our own time.
All are invited to this evening of music, as well as the pre-concert reception, to celebrate the Marian Library and its 75 years as a faithful steward of the Marianist charism on the University of Dayton campus and beyond.
UD students, this event is PATH-eligible but requires a free ticket. After the performance, PATH point seekers will complete a brief reflection sheet.
