Alumni and Friends Making an Impact

Daaryn’ah Willoughby ’17

Daaryn’ah Willoughby ’17 has always felt like she was leading the pack. The daughter of an army combat veteran, Willoughby saw early in her life how she could learn, lead and serve her community. She is now CEO of and president of The Willoughby Firm, LLC, a managing consultancy service.

Willoughby is a world silver medalist in full-contact fighting following a 2022 competition in Rome. She is now preparing to defend that world title, along with her national title, in 2023. Willoughby says her dedication to martial arts is part of what helps her be the best version of herself.

“The most important thing I can develop in my personal and professional life is my mind, body and spirit,” said Willoughby. “The healthier, the stronger and the better you feel, the better you can learn, lead, and serve at the highest capacity.”

After graduating from the University of Dayton with a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish, Willoughby spent time as a translator in Colombia.

When not at work or training, Willoughby is making an impact in her community. She volunteers as an assistant instructor to youth ages 4 to 12 learning martial arts. She also provides a 90-year-old neighbor with grocery shopping, cooking and caregiving services.
