Business Ethics and Environmental Sustainability: Bees hike in Clifton Gorge and take a walking tour of downtown Dayton

The BEES bid the fall colors adieu with a short hike in Clifton Gorge, near Yellow Springs, close to the location of several early textile mills, at least one of which was owned by Dayton denizen Robert Patterson.

Defying colder temperatures, several intrepid BEES joined a guided tour by author Andrew Walsh (Preservation Dayton) of some of Downtown Dayton’s gems — buildings and statuary celebrating Dayton’s innovators. Highlights included the Old Dayton Courthouse (made of Dayton ‘marble’/limestone), the former site of the Dayton Daily News, and a replica of Arthur E. Miller’s flood steps, designed to ensure that the events of the 1913 flood never happened again, and the founding of the Five Rivers Metro-park system.
