IACT: Creativity for Tomorrow

Concourse D: What's Next

By Tess Isemann '18

A year ago, twelve of UD's most engaged and creative undergraduate students in the Collaboration Accelerator program embarked on a journey to reimagine the role of the Library on campus. Their insight led to the concept of Concourse D, a project development studio that would connect students, faculty and the Dayton community across all disciplines to work together on projects consistent with UD’s mission to be a University for the Common Good. The idea was for users to come to this place to use tools and networking to further their projects, research, or passions to strengthen their efforts.

Except, it’s not just an idea anymore.

University Libraries adopted Concourse D into their renovation of Roesch Library that will be completed in August 2019.  In this facility, any student or faculty member will be given tools to take their collaborative projects and presentations in new directions. Previously uncommon mentorship from other disciplines may lend new twists on old ideas. Faculty may hold office hours. Students may teach their peers. Knowledge of new resources may invigorate traditional methods of work.

This interim location is currently undergoing renovations of its own. Walls are being painted, donated furniture is being collected, and specific materials are being crowdsourced. Interested in awarding a specific material or donation to help complete the transdisciplinary nature of Concourse D? Learn more about the project and how you can be a part in building it to life!
