Never Burn Your Moving Boxes

Who's Publishing What: Never Burn Your Moving Boxes

Jolyn Young’s debut book, Never Burn Your Moving Boxes: A True Tale of Real-Life Cowboy Wife  (Trafalgar Square Books), will be published in September but is available for pre-orders.

“It's a memoir about finding my way amid the struggles of marriage and motherhood while living on some of the most remote ranches in the American West,” says the author. “I experienced everyday issues in extraordinary circumstances, such as becoming a mother while living one-and-a-half hours from the nearest hospital and having a social network that consisted of more cows than people.”

Her book is receiving advance praise.

“This book is simply irresistible, refreshing and impossible to put down. Jolyn Young, a mother of three, wife of a true cowboy, takes us on a memorable and deeply authentic journey into her remote and beautiful world and boy, is it a ride! The author is armed with a wicked sense of humor, a strong sense of survival and purpose, and a big, bright, strong and ultra-fresh female Western voice,” writes Feli Funke, creative producer of the film, Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait. “Don’t miss this book — it is the real-life experience of a cowboy wife, and a refreshing antidote to the glittery and drama-driven world of Yellowstone.”

Jolyn grew up on a small family ranch in northern California, where she used to write in her journal about telling her horse what part she got in the school play. She writes about the comical side of living on a rural cattle ranch in the great American West on her blog and for Western Horseman magazine.

“Humor is a choice, and I choose laughter every time,” she says.
