Humor Writer of the Month: Liz Kozak

Liz Kozak is an award-winning writer, producer and author. Her book The Second City: The Essentially Accurate History was published in 2019 with a foreword by the incomparable Catherine O’Hara.

She is currently the director of editorial & content development at The Second City, where she oversees content-driven initiatives as well as produces special projects for the legendary comedy company, including an upcoming SCTV reunion special directed by Martin Scorsese.

Liz co-created and executive produced the sketch comedy/variety TV series The Second City Presents: The Last Show Left on Earth in 2020, which was no small feat to jump into at the beginning of lockdown. She spent over a decade as a writer and producer at Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios and was a 2021 Daytime Emmy nominee for her work on Tamron Hall

In 2019, she won A Hotel Room of One's Own: The Erma Bombeck | Anna Lefler Humorist-in-Residence Program.

Her greatest accomplishments to date are her two daughters, Posey and Hazel.
