Two co-op opportunities connected the dots between academics and a technical engineering position after graduation
By Adam Moresea ’22, senior mechanical engineering
Through the University of Dayton School of Engineering Cooperative Education program, I had the chance to spend two co-op terms with The Timken Company throughout my college experience.
- First, I started in the process and tool design group where I had the chance to learn more about how the engineering group at world headquarters supports the manufacturing teams across the globe.
- During my second term this past summer, I decided to step into the manufacturing world at one of Timken's bearing plants in Asheboro, North Carolina.
As a mechanical engineering major at UD, I experienced two beneficial co-op opportunities that helped me to connect the dots between what I was learning in my academics and what I would be working on in a technical position.
As I learned more about the company and the different technical roles they have, I started to gain an interest in the technical sales side of the company.
After having the chance to shadow a territory manager for the Timken Company, I finally came to the realization of the type of career that I would love to learn and grow with.
Upon completion of my summer co-op term, I had the chance to interview with Timken for a position starting in their sales development program. Soon after, I received a job offer from the company, and I accepted the offer and have plans to start early July next year.
