Top Education Law Expert Joins Faculty

Charlie Russo is bringing his extensive experience in education law to the University of Dayton School of Law.

Russo, the Joseph Panzer Chair in Education at the University of Dayton School of Education and Health Services, has accepted a joint-appointment to the School of Law.

"I’ve been in and around schools my entire life,” Russo says. “The law is an important tool to help educational institutions run more effectively.”

Russo has worked on 60 books and speaks extensively about education law around the world. His appointment is another example of the great opportunities Dayton Law students have to learn from the leaders in their fields.

“Charlie is a rock star in the field of education law,” says Dean Andrew Strauss. “We are extraordinarily lucky to have him join the School of Law.”

Russo is looking forward to showing even more Dayton Law students the importance of the law in education now that he has the joint-appointment and will teach additional courses in the law school.

“I like working with students,” Russo says. “They’re the ones who will take what we teach and try to make the world a better place.”

Russo will teach a course on Law and Religion this fall. He will also teach courses on Education Law, Sports Law and Special Education Law in future semesters.

Russo will continue to teach courses at the School of Education and Health Services in addition to his work for the School of Law.
