Happy New Year from ECHO!

By Barb Miller

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”  ~Maya Angelou

Last weekend we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, which tells us of the three Magi who followed the star to Bethlehem to share gifts and witness the birth of Jesus.  The symbolism of light, faith, and gift-giving parallels our appreciation and gratitude to all of you who so kindly helped with our ECHO Christmas collection for families in need at St. Benedict the Moor, Immaculate Conception, and Mother Brunner Catholic Schools.

This Christmas 131 children and 59 families received new clothing, toys, books, food, and household items because of your donations and our partnership with Hannah’s Treasure Chest “Giving Angels Program”.  In addition to our wonderful UD family of donors, we received help from Catholic Social Services St. Nick Shop, Immaculate Conception Church Giving Tree, and a few other private donors.  With the help from these additional organizations and individuals, it raised our grand total to 230 children and 101 families that received gifts, food, and household items.

We truly appreciate and value the generosity, collaboration, and hard work of all who joined in our mission to help serve the children and families in need at our Catholic schools. We extend a special thanks to our ECHO Family Advocate, Michelle Sherman, who coordinated this endeavor.

Thank you for “following the star” in your heart that led you to help ECHO this Christmas.  We wish you peace, hope, and joy in 2019!
