Center for Catholic Education at UD

Meet the Staff Series - Ben Swick

We would like you to meet, Ben Swick. Ben is a recent addition to the Center for Catholic Education and works as the undergraduate student worker. He is From Elkhart, Indiana and is a sophomore intervention specialist at the University of Dayton.

What do you do at the CCE? I help out with various tasks from UCDRC and Lalanne, as well as other jobs from both Barb and Mrs. Ferguson. I type in databases, and create class documents for both of them.

Describe your family: I am the fourth oldest of nine children. We come from a large, Catholic family. We were all homeschooled until 7th grade where we went on to a Catholic grade school and high school.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I play on many different intramural teams (soccer, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, softball) and am a huge sports fan. My favorite sports is soccer and I enjoy watching the English Premier League.

Why do you support Catholic Education? I have been involved in Catholic education my whole life, and it is through these core beliefs where I can make a difference in the world.

What Catholic Education topic are you most passionate about? I am most passionate about the right to all human life no matter what.

Why do you look forward to coming to work every day? Because I work with an upbeat group of people who are very welcoming and fun/funny. It is nice to work with people who have a sense of humor.

What is one piece of advice you would give to Catholic Educators? Lead with your heart

Who is your role model?  My dad is my role model. He has taught me no matter what, to always do the right thing. He has taught me about integrity, which is what you do when no one’s watching. With integrity you have nothing to fear because you have nothing to hide. He not only tells me all of this, but lives his life the same way.

Tell us three fun facts about you: I studied abroad in Ireland for a semester. I will soon have an adopted sister from Ethiopia. I am the fastest cashier at the grocery where I work.
