Lalanne Series - Ashley Moss

By Victoria Schoen

Ashley Moss is the next Lalanne teacher that you have the opportunity to learn more about! Ashley is a 22 year old from Louisville, KY who is a graduate of Murray State University. This is her first year in the Lalanne program. She will be teaching in Cincinnati at Holy Family School. Continue reading to see how Ashley responded to our interview questions:

What is your favorite subject to teach? Language Arts

What is your favorite subject to learn? Science

What is the one most important thing that you want your students to learn from you or take away from your teaching? I want my students to be able to take away fun memories of learning. Learning is supposed to be fun!

Who is your role model? Describe them: My role model would hands down be my dad. He has always been my biggest fan and pushed me to work hard and become successful. I have learned so many things from him, and I hope to be able to not only pass those qualities down to my own children, but to my students as well.

How were you inspired to become a teacher? My 8th grade math teacher was my inspiration to become a teacher. I was never good at math, but she believed in me and never gave up on me, which allowed me to become successful in her class.

Why did you decide to become a teacher? I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to be that person who made a positive impact in my students’ lives. I want to be that person they can turn to when they feel there is no one else to turn to. But most importantly, I want to be the teacher that loves her students unconditionally, and lets them know that every day.

Why do you want to teach in Catholic schools? Having grown up in public schools all my life, I decided it was time for a change. I really enjoy the atmosphere and support system I see in Catholic schools, and I can’t wait to be a part of such a strong community!

What are three fun facts about you? I was a D1 athlete in college, I am probably one of the biggest Kentucky fans you’ll ever meet, and my life goal is to live by the beach.

If you could teach anywhere in the world where would you teach? Greece

Here is what fellow teachers and the staff of the Lalanne program say about Ashley:

“Ashley makes everyone feel welcome and involved.”

“Ashley Moss is the cheerful southern belle we love with all our hearts. She tells wonderful stories and knows how to show her love with a caring smile or joyful laugh.”

“If you want to find a true friend, befriend Ashley.  She is the most faithful person and will make you feel like you are her best friend right away!”

“If Ashley can teach as well as she can tan, our future lies in good hands.”

“Ashley Moss is an enthusiastic and diligent teacher, she loves people with her whole heart.”

“Ashley likes Louisville, Kentucky because that’s where she is from. She has a Southern charm and gentleness that warms the hearts of people around her. I’ve never seen somebody with a frown by Ashley. One time I had a tear but then Ashley walked into the room and it quickly evaporated. She will be strumming the strings of her students’ hearts like a talented banjo player.  Her students are #blessed to have her.”
