Dr. Christina Waite

Dr. Waite has had a long and varied career in healthcare. She was born in Sweden and began working as a PCT and Sitter in the 1970s in an infectious disease Hospital in Stockholm. In 1979, she graduated from Canton Agricultural and Technical College and obtained her RN. She began working at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and spent the next 16 years in critical care settings, including Coronary Intensive Care.

Dr. Waite graduated from Wright State University School of Medicine in 1999. She next completed a year of internal medicine residency, before entering psychiatric residency. Following residency, she developed her private practice for six years, working for Premier Health. She was recruited by Lindner Center of Hope in Mason, Ohio, and spend the next three years as a staff psychiatrist in inpatient and outpatient settings, including an eating disorder unit, as well as an ECT program. Next, she became Medical Director for Haven Senior Behavioral Health in Dayton and finally re-joined Premier Health Partners as Medical Director eight years ago. 

For the last eight years, Dr. Waite has directed the inpatient psychiatric unit at Miami Valley Hospital and developed the Psychiatric Consult Liaison services, at the former Good Samaritan Hospital and at Miami Valley Hospital.

In her current role on the Consult Liaison service at Miami Valley Hospital, Dr. Waite has developed expertise in the treatment of re-feeding syndrome, delirium, neurologic side effects of psychotrophics, as well as substance withdrawal treatments. She works closely with both nursing and medical staff, bringing support and leadership during the recent pandemic.
