Savalas Kidd

Chief Savalas Kidd is the Assistant Vice President and Chief of Police at the University of Dayton. Chief Kidd has over 26 years of law enforcement experience. Currently he oversees the Divisions of Police, Parking Services, Arena Security, Emergency Medical Service and Clery/Records Bureau.

Before coming to UD, Chief Kidd served 12 years in the Ohio attorney general's office where he was an assistant special-agent-in-charge supervising several statewide criminal investigative units. He also served as a police officer for two municipalities in the Cincinnati Area.

Throughout his illustrious career, Chief Kidd has received multiple awards and recognitions from the Ohio governor's office, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Ohio attorney general's office, and the Ohio House of Representatives. At UD, he has helped develop several community policing initiatives for which the department was awarded the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators Award for Innovations in Community Policing in 2018. Chief Kidd holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Human Services.
