Vanguard founder Elana Bolling delights in presenting promising young musicians, and Maxim Lando perfectly fits the bill. Now in his early 20s, Lando began playing the piano at age 3 and made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 6. He first received national attention at 14, appearing on the piano bench alongside Lang Lang to perform the parts intended for Mr. Lang’s injured left hand. Since then, Mr. Lando won a Gold Medal at the 2017 Berlin International Music Competition, was awarded the prestigious Gilmore Young Artist Award in 2020 and was honored with a joint Grand Prize in the Vendome Competition in 2022. Praised for his “brilliance and infectious exuberance” (The New York Times), Lando is one of the most promising of 21^st century pianists.
