Gudorf Chair in Catholic Theology and Culture

UD campus

Welcome

The Gudorf Chair plays a central role in the advancement of the doctoral program in theology at U.D. The doctoral program, which focuses on the U.S. Catholic experience, is committed to theological study that reflects a conscious and critical awareness of how the unique experience of Catholicism in the United States shapes Catholic theology. Therefore, the Gudorf Chair's scholarly expertise focuses on such areas as intercultural or interreligious dialogue and Catholicism as practiced and lived in actual faith communities.

The Gudorf Chair teaches courses in the Department of Religious Studies and makes substantive contributions to the entire university's intellectual life by engaging in public discourse through an annual lecture and periodic university-wide seminars and national symposia. Vincent J. Miller, Ph.D. became the first Gudorf Chair in Catholic Theology and Culture in 2009.
