HSI worked with facilities management when it began composting our organic waste on campus. Activities included a waste audit at Kennedy Union and building a bin to hold a static aerated compost test pile. Wooden boxes for for compost were replaced with a system that could hold much more material.
In the fall of 2017, UD students, faculty, staff and community partner Enterprise Roofing came together to install the first UD green roof on the KU patio.
Our student reps and leaders are involved in projects on and off campus, leading the way in making our campus and community more sustainable.

Visiting Artist for Sustainability Initiatives
Local musician, visual artist, and educator MIchael Bashaw is serving as a Visiting Artist for Sustainability Initiatives during the 2015-16 academic year. He is collaborating with students and faculty on several special projects and his innovative residency is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences through the ArtsLIVE initiative, the Hanley Sustainability Institute, and the Office of the Dean. Art and SustaInability on the River
Visiting Artist for Sustainability Initiatives Michael Bashaw started his UD residency by working with the Rivers Institute in August during their orientation for the new cohort of River Stewards. The artist joined the students in the kayaks and worked with them to create environmentally friendly art.
