Partnerships, past and present

River Stewards, 2011

Over nearly 20 years, the Rivers Institute has fostered collaborations between the university and surrounding community, often led by our River Stewards. Our newsletter chronicles recent efforts, featuring stories about foraging, river cleanups, current stewards and alumni from the program. Campus and local media often run stories about bigger projects, with the newsfeed below shedding light on recent capstone projects led by our seniors. For a deeper dive into past partnerships, check out our former blog.

Our biggest projects each year are accomplished by our senior stewards through their cohort’s capstone. Each capstone reflects the shared interests and passions of that cohort, taking up themes like environmental education, access to greenspace and sustainable agriculture, all dedicated to empowering communities to be stewards of our rivers.
