Fitz Center for Leadership in Community

National Issues Forums

The National Issues Forums encourage members of the University and City of Dayton communities to discuss timely social and political issues and weigh policy alternatives. The forums help participants move toward well-informed public judgments through small group deliberation and enable participants to learn and practice the arts of dialogue and deliberation. These are critical to building community in the Marianist tradition and are essential skills of citizen leaders. The Fitz Center, in conjunction with the Political Science Department, has conducted in recent year's forums on terrorism, race relations, America's role in the world, academic excellence in higher education, and the role of social networking sites in fostering community.
