Programs

The Dayton Civic Scholars program is a three-year initiative designed for a select cohort of students from various disciplines within the university. This program aims to cultivate active citizenship by providing participants with educational experiences, sustained opportunities for civic engagement, and professional development activities.

Educational Engagement Programs provides UD students (Education Impact Partners) with opportunities to partner with community and education leaders to tutor, mentor, and assist in community-driven capacity building. UD students are provided educational formation on pedagogy and best practices of community engagement.

The Fitz Center for Leadership in Community's Faculty Fellows Program is faculty research, learning and action for the common good. Every two years a cohort of University of Dayton faculty are awarded a fellowship to develop and implement a community engagement teaching or research project.

The Health Equity Fellows program is a three year cohorted program that aims to address health equity challenges in Ohio by developing a pathway and pipeline for a sustainable, health equity-minded student program through co-curricular education, mentorship and professional development.

The Public Humanities and Arts (PHA) program is the intentional collaboration of University of Dayton faculty, staff, and students with diverse communities and public-facing organizations to engage, strengthen, and support shared goals in the humanities and the arts for the common good. Through the deepening of publicly engaged work, the PHA program advocates for the importance of the humanities and arts in addressing community needs and societal challenges, particularly within our greater Dayton community.

The flagship program of the Rivers Institute, the River Stewards are a cohort of students from across the university who collaborate with partners to support a healthy watershed and just environment for everyone in the Miami Valley. These students work to inspire and empower communities to join them as stewards of the river.
