Religious Studies

Our Graduate Academic Programs

The distinctive research focus of the doctoral program is the practices/praxis of Catholicism in the United States context. Master's and doctoral students join with their professors to form an ecumenical community that integrates the study of the classical disciplines of Christian theology with attentiveness to multicultural and interdisciplinary dimensions. Intensive study of Roman Catholic traditions is central to our programs.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry

This program prepare students for ministerial professions, especially for positions identified as lay ecclesial ministry within the Roman Catholic Church.


Master of Arts in Theological Studies

This program provides knowledge and understanding of Christianity through the academic study of Scripture, historical theology, church history, and contemporary and moral theologies.


Doctor of Philosophy in Theology

Our doctoral program offers a distinctive research focus on locating the work of theology in history and culture with attention to the United States.



Graduate assistants dedicate an average of twenty hours per week to quality work for the department. They receive a stipend plus tuition remission for eighteen semester hours of tuition per academic year.
