It’s a well known fact that the highly competitive medical and professional school application process requires that a successful candidate bring much more than good test scores and GPA to the table.
Applicants need to show that they have explored their chosen profession and learned from these experiences that they are a good fit for their chosen field. This of course means students need access to clinical experiences well before their first day of med or professional school. In the Premedical Programs Office at the University of Dayton, we want to make sure these opportunities are available to our students throughout their educational career. We are currently formulating new ways to work with our students, helping them set goals for their clinical experiences. We track these experiences as part of the advising process.
Here’s where we need your help. We need you to help us set up a system which will allow us to face students in the right direction for finding a clinical experience that meets their situational needs. We know there are amazing physicians and dentists out there who are ready, willing and able to lend a mentoring hand.
More and more our students are coming from across the nation to study at UD. As they head home for summer break, we would like to pair them up with some of our alumni who can give them an opportunity to learn more about their chosen career. Please take a minute to complete the survey below. This will allow us to begin the process of identifying mentors for these students. Once we receive your survey, we will enter your information into our database and based on your preferences identify students who might be a good fit to send your way. This process will be coordinated by the Premedical Programs Office staff and you will be contacted by our office before any student contacts you directly. Of course this process will be adjusted to meet your stated preferences for contact.
