Mathematics
Math Club
The Math Club is an academic club on campus aimed at building an undergraduate community of people interested in Mathematics. We work to build a network of students and faculty, contribute to the Dayton-area community, and grow academically in Mathematics beyond the classroom.
You do not have to be a Math major to join. We encourage students with other majors to attend our events and help give us a different perspective of Mathematics so that we can further expand our knowledge and interests.
Pi Mu Epsilon
Pi Mu Epsilon (ΠME), is an honorary mathematics society and an honorary section of the Math Club, and jointly meets with the Math Club and co-hosts Math Club activities.
To learn more about Pi Mu Epsilon and its opportunities for students, visit the national Pi Mu Epsilon web site. For information about the admission requirements and application process to become a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, contact the University of Dayton chapter at math+PME@udayton.edu.
What we do
We meet about once a month for entertaining presentations about math and opportunities available to students with a background in math, to have fun using math to solve logic and reasoning puzzles, and to stretch our knowledge and experiences of mathematics.
Our activities include a picnic where students and Math Department faculty get to know each other. Our biggest event each year is the High School Math Contest, held each spring. Students from the Dayton area come to campus to participate in the contest that challenges and expands their mathematical knowledge.
