Environmental Biology internships
All Environmental Biology students are required to complete a 300 hour internship as part of their degree program. The students find and apply for the internship, often with the assistance of their advisor, and most students complete the internship over the summer. What students do is extremely varied: work for zoos, parks, non-profits, environmental consulting firms, or do research with an organization or professor, just to name a few examples. The following resources may be helpful in finding an internship.
- The Texas A&M Natural Resources job board has jobs and internships from all over the nation. You can search by job type, location or even organisms that you are interested in. Most of these jobs are related to research, conservation and land management.
- Try subscribing to Ecolog. You have to sign up for an account, but it is free. This is a listserv that many ecologists across the world use. It sends you lots of things related to ecology, but includes advertisements for many jobs and internships you might be interested in.
- The Student Conservation Association partners with many organizations for temporary positions that can often times lead to long-term jobs and can give you good experience working in the conservation world.
- For more sustainability-related jobs and internships, try the GreenJobsBoard. They also have a helpful newsletter you can subscribe to that gives lots of tips for your job search.
- If you are interested in climate-related jobs, this is an all-encompassing list of many resources including job boards, newsletters, and communities that are related to jobs in the climate world.
- Dr. Ryan McEwan and Dr. Chelse Prather both have lists of resources on our personal websites that could be helpful to you as well.
