Learning Beyond the Classroom

The University of Dayton recognizes that we are a part of a larger community and that our actions connect us. The students and faculty in the Sustainability Program pursue a greater understanding of what a sustainable world entails. We apply this understanding to activities within the university and beyond.

Our students actively engage the greater Dayton and University communities in conversations about sustainability. You'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences through study abroad and away opportunities, service break-outs, student-led organizations and service learning opportunities in the Dayton area.

Student Clubs and Organizations

Sustainability Club

Open to all students at UD, Sustainability Club is a service and social action club with an emphasis on food, water and waste on campus and in the Dayton community. We have several waste collection programs in place that not only deter waste from landfills, but raise money for projects and feed the less fortunate.

Social events include, local hiking trips, TED Talk nights and organic and vegan cookouts. In addition to facilitating Sustainability Week and GreenSweep events, we educate ourselves and others about important environmental and sustainability issues as well as develop a collective language and vision among the students. We're also a resource to facilitate collaboration and help get project ideas off the ground.
