Our faculty understand the value of experiential learning. As such, they strive to give students many opportunities to learn from doing, through a variety of departmental and interdisciplinary programs, projects and events.

Through practical learning opportunities like internships, you can build your resume, gain practical experience and prepare for a successful career.

Our faculty work closely with students in securing internship opportunities for all our majors.

Learning in a Global Art Context

Each summer, our students can travel to, live and work in art education settings at our Marianist schools in Santiago, Chile, and for the nonprofit Determined to Develop in Malawi, Africa.

Dean's Summer Fellowship

Work with a faculty mentor on your self-directed research project as a Dean's Summer Fellow.

Ligature Studio

Work with clients from across campus and the Dayton community in solving real-world design problems.

Celebration of the Arts

The Celebration of the Arts is held each spring in conjunction with the annual Stander Symposium.

Jonathan Riess Undergraduate Art History Colloquium

Art majors are encouraged to present papers at this regional colloquium that brings together faculty and students from regional colleges and universities.

Horvath Student Juried Exhibition

Every March, we take the opportunity to recognize outstanding student achievement. Professional artists are invited to jury the show and select awardees.

Annual New York City Trip

Every year students travel to New York City to visit galleries and museums and explore the work of professional artists.
