The University of Dayton is committed to protecting the personal information that you entrust to us.  We collect and use your information for a variety of purposes, including those purposes that: 

  • you explicitly consent to; 
  • are in our legitimate interests - for example, providing educational offerings, evaluating your academic performance, conducting admissions research, managing internal administrative tasks, conducting analytics to improve websites or program offerings, and requesting gifts or donations;
  • are necessary in order to enter into or perform a contract with you - for example, providing educational programs, processing your application for admission, processing your payments or donations, registering you for courses or events, and managing employment or other work relationships; and
  • are necessary to comply with our legal obligations - for example, financial aid reporting, tax filing, and reporting of adverse events to regulatory agencies. 

 

We store all personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or for as long as we are required to do so considering things such as the type of service provided, the nature and length of our relationship, and mandatory retention periods provided by law. While we may disseminate personal information internally to authorized offices and/or officials, the University does not sell, swap, rent, or otherwise disclose your personal information for commercial purposes.

You have the right to review, correct and, in some cases, delete the personal information the University maintains about you.  Please note that you may also have additional privacy rights under the laws of your jurisdiction. These include, but are not limited to, international privacy laws such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and  China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), and state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CPRA).  For questions, please contact privacy@udayton.edu.
