Learn to Lead

What makes someone a great leader? What leadership characteristics do others most admire? What are your strengths as a leader, and what areas do you want to improve?

During this one-week, residential learning experience, students will gain an understanding of the foundations of leadership, assess their own leadership behavior to determine their unique leadership style and create a personal leadership development plan. This highly interactive session includes in-depth discussions, collaborative exchange of ideas, classes, guest speakers and immersive site visits. Students will learn about the specific behaviors and actions of exemplary leadership; how to develop, lead, and participate in highly effective teams; and examine how critical skills such as communication, self-awareness, and conflict resolution impact leadership and their ability to lead others.

In addition to these experiences, students will also have the opportunity to compete for up to $40,000 in UD scholarship dollars by participating in a leadership development competition.
