Sample Plan of Study

Discover Program

Each semester, students can expect to take a mixture of courses that fulfill different categories of degree requirements:

  • The major (once declared)
  • Common Academic Program (CAP)
  • Students in the Discover Program will enroll in a Discover seminar course each semester until they declare a major. The Discover seminars are designated as ASI courses in the sample plan of study. These seminars aim to help students navigate campus resources, explore a vocation and take steps toward identifying a path at UD.

Some courses are designed to fulfill requirements in more than one category (e.g., CAP and the major; in addition many courses may fulfill more than one CAP component), which facilitates students’ ability to complete their degree requirements in a timely manner and also provides flexibility to explore interests outside of the major. This flexibility will often result in students’ ability to earn additional credentials, such as a double major or one or more minors.

The following sample plan of study outlines only the first two years of study – covering the Discover seminars and CAP requirements that students would likely complete in the first two years.
