Opportunities are Everywhere

When searching for external scholarships:

  • Start with your local and regional community - the candidate pool is smaller, which may increase your chance of receiving an award
  • Take caution when an application requires any personal information that does not pertain to the scholarship, such as social security numbers or access to social media accounts
  • Pay attention to the timeline for award selection - some might take up to a year or more
  • Find niche scholarships that pertain to who you are as an individual and what your interests are
  • Avoid applying for any scholarship that charges an application fee

External Scholarships

Freeman-ASIA accepts applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying at the undergraduate level at a two-year or four-year college or university, with a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA, who demonstrate financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Amount varies.

Scholarships for Military and Veterans
The PES Scholarship Plus Initiative provides scholarships and real world experience to undergraduates who are interested in power and energy engineering careers. Our undergraduate engineering scholarships aim to accomplish this goal by attracting highly qualified engineering students to the field.

Looking for funding to assist you with your graduate education, international studies or research project? University of Dayton students may be eligible to apply for several national fellowships and scholarships specifically geared towards these areas.

Graduate Fellowships & Scholarships
The Technology First Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more deserving Southwest Ohio area college students. Students selected for this scholarship are matriculating in Information Technology related curriculums, have achieved distinguished academic success, and have demonstrated high character and values.

Ashland County Community Foundation offers scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors, continuing college students and non-traditional students. Because they are created and designed by individual donors, our scholarships have varying eligibility and selection criteria. No two scholarships are the same. Most, but not all, ACCF scholarships are for Ashland County students and residents only.

The Alexis G. Philius Scholarship, which will award $2,000 to five recipients, is for students of Black/African descent who are pursuing a license, certificate, or health care degree at an accredited college, university, trade, or technical school at any time between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

Dayton Workforce Partnerships Scholarship

UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority group members. UNCF has helped more than 500,000 students earn their college degrees since its founding.

Applicants must be entering either their undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior year or be a graduate student at a COHEAO member college or university.

COHEAO Scholarship
The fund offers scholarships to Ohio’s women who want to achieve their full potential through education. Ohio women (high school seniors and older) who are in need of financial aid to pursue an undergraduate degree or technical certificate are invited to apply.

Available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.

The Bryan Cameron Education Foundation seeks to invest in exceptional individuals who will make a notable impact in their varied professional and personal relationships throughout their entire lives.

Scholarships form the cornerstone of the Chicana Latina Foundation. Merit-based scholarships are valued at $1,500 to 30-40 powerful Latina students each year.

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education.

Los Hermanos de Stanford is a brotherhood. We believe in community service, academic excellence, and cultural awareness.

Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to undergraduate four-year college, and graduate, students who meet specific criteria.

LULF: La Unidad Latina Foundation
Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience! The Gilman Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 (or $8,000 including the Critical Need Language Award) for undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and Federal Pell Grant recipients to participate in in-person or virtual international programs.
