External Scholarships

Opportunities are Everywhere

When searching for external scholarships:

  • Start with your local and regional community - the candidate pool is smaller, which may increase your chance of receiving an award
  • Take caution when an application requires any personal information that does not pertain to the scholarship, such as social security numbers or access to social media accounts
  • Pay attention to the timeline for award selection - some might take up to a year or more
  • Find niche scholarships that pertain to who you are as an individual and what your interests are
  • Avoid applying for any scholarship that charges an application fee

External Scholarships

Freeman-ASIA accepts applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying at the undergraduate level at a two-year or four-year college or university, with a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA, who demonstrate financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Amount varies.

This guide provides a thorough overview of grants and scholarships that are available to service members and families from every branch of the military, as well as information on available GI benefits, guidance on FAFSA, and other financial aid resources. Amount varies. 

Scholarships for Military and Veterans
The PES Scholarship Plus Initiative provides scholarships and real world experience to undergraduates who are interested in power and energy engineering careers. Our undergraduate engineering scholarships aim to accomplish this goal by attracting highly qualified engineering students to the field. 

Scholarships for Future Power Engineers
Looking for funding to assist you with your graduate education, international studies or research project? University of Dayton students may be eligible to apply for several national fellowships and scholarships specifically geared towards these areas.

Graduate Fellowships & Scholarships
The Technology First Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more deserving Southwest Ohio area college students. Students selected for this scholarship are matriculating in Information Technology related curriculums, have achieved distinguished academic success, and have demonstrated high character and values.

Technology First Scholarship Fund

In celebration of the 4th Annual Civil Rights Transportation Symposium, (3) Three $1,000 scholar­ships will be awarded to (3) individual students currently enrolled in a post high school education focusing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) related fields. The Civil Rights Transportation Symposium Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of individuals in the management and operation ranks of the engineering and transportation industry.

The Dayton–Wright Chapter of AFCEA, in partnership with the AFCEA Educational Foundation, presents an average of $35,000 annually in scholarships, grants, and awards to students and teachers in K-12 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and Cyber related programs, ROTC programs, traditional university degree programs, professional development and other educational areas.

Available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.

Scholarships form the cornerstone of the Chicana Latina Foundation. Merit-based scholarships are valued at $1,500 to 30-40 powerful Latina students each year.

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education.

Eligible students may be high school seniors, recent high school graduates, or currently enrolled in college pursuing an undergraduate degree.

LULF: La Unidad Latina Foundation
Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience! The Gilman Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 (or $8,000 including the Critical Need Language Award) for undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and Federal Pell Grant recipients to participate in in-person or virtual international programs.
