2021 Giving Day Highlights

ONE DAY FOR THE RECORD BOOKS!

We asked, and you answered — in a big way! Thanks to you and more than 700 volunteers, the University of Dayton had a record-breaking day for our third annual giving day: 6,024 Flyer faithful representing all 50 states raised $2,837,725 to support the success of our students and our campus community.

More than $600,000 of the total was contributed toward 12 matches and three unlocking challenges — to inspire donors to increase their impact. Our more than 700 volunteers included alumni, students, faculty and staff, parents, and friends. Students rallied their friends and had fun on campus, and the Houston Community won the Community Competition by reaching a participation rate of 6.9%.

Challenges played a big role in our success. Bill ’70 and Jan Tweed and James ’75 and Pamela Spinner contributed $50,000 when we hit the 1850 Challenge. John '67 and Natalie Alberici gave $50,000 when we hit 3,700 donors. Inspired by these gifts, Fred ’76 and Lisa Tenover created the 4500 Challenge, and their $200,000 gift will establish the Brother Don Geiger, S.M. Memorial Fund for Graduate Students.

It’s always a good day to be a Flyer, but on April 14, everyone in our community was especially ProUD to be UD!
