2023 Impact Report
Setting Our Sights Higher
Every year we get better as a University — as a community. In the last fiscal year, we built on our positive momentum to establish a single-year fundraising record. We've increased the impact in our community, with our good works reaching out to the world. And we achieve everything together, through the collaboration of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
Our upward trajectory is fueled by the transformational undergraduate experience that helps Flyers discern their own path to a values-based vocation. And when your work is fueled by a higher purpose, you naturally rise to the top.

Creating a Culture of Philanthropy
Impact in Action
Creating and sustaining community is critical to UD. Just as critical is our effort to make UD affordable for any student who wants to call UD home. Alumni giving made a difference for you, and we’re working hard to make sure each Flyer generation gets the same boost. Students for University Advancement is an organization on campus dedicated to making a difference. And it's working. This year student participation in philanthropy at UD rose 38%, and student giving soared 190%. Current students know the value of the UD experience, and they are giving back to ensure future students enjoy the same amazing University community.

Our Endowment
Want a refreshing look at UD’s endowment? Now you can watch a short, fun video that explains what the endowment is in black and white: why we have it, what we can — and cannot — do with the funds, and why it is so important to the University. It’s a blast from the past that will forever fuel our future.

Flyer Champions help potential Flyers decide if UD is the right fit for them. Seventy-nine Flyer alumni served this year by answering questions about one of their favorite university topics — what it’s like to attend the University of Dayton.

Rick Schieltz ’72, a retired engineer and volunteer at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, is also opening doors. As an alumni mentor, Rick introduced Sarah Herr ’23, an electrical engineering major who aspires to be an “imagineer” for Disney, to executives at Carillon Park.
