Being a peer-to-peer ambassador is one of the simplest ways you can immediately make a bigger impact with UD to provide more funding for scholarships, hands-on learning experiences and support services for current and future Flyers. You can raise funds for any area of UD that you love, from your favorite student organization, major or Flyer team to the unrestricted UD Fund for areas of greatest need.

Your primary role as a peer-to-peer ambassador is to contact fellow alumni, parents and friends to ask them to join you in investing in the University of Dayton by making a gift. You’ll have access to our easy-to-use online platform which makes connecting with fellow Flyers simple, and you’ll have the full support of our coordinators to assist you.

Annual Responsibilities:

• Make a gift to the area or fund that means the most to you.
• Select your Flyer alumni assignments in the volunteer platform. These can be former classmates, teammates or an alum or parent who shares your passion for a specific major or student organization.
• Participate in our outreach periods by contacting your assigned Flyer alumni and friends through the easy-to-use online volunteer platform using message templates we’ve created for you.
• Share messages leading up to and on One Day, One Dayton, UD’s annual day of giving. We ask our peer-to-peer ambassadors to participate in all of our outreach periods year-round but One Day, One Dayton is the highest priority.
• Thank your donors for making their gift.
• Communicate your results and any feedback you receive to our Peer-to-Peer Ambassador Program staff.
• Join your fellow volunteers for quarterly interactive sessions via Zoom to share your insights and enjoy some Flyer-to-Flyer camaraderie.

Annual Time Commitment — Less than 8 hours

• Initial 30-minute virtual training with UD staff.
• Participate in three to six messaging periods, sending two or more messages to your contacts. Connecting is quick and easy! Sending a message takes only five minutes.
• Send One Day, One Dayton messages — it’s our most robust outreach period. We ask ambassadors to send two to six messages over a six-week period.
• Join your fellow volunteers for quarterly interactive sessions via Zoom.

Example Outreach Calendar

• September: The start of the new semester is a great time to share a campus update. Inspire your friends with UD’s national ranking highlights or share a story of a student or faculty member who is making a difference.
• December: Share the magic of our UD community and encourage your Flyer friends to make a gift before the end of the year.
• February: Brag a little bit about our amazing University and share a student story.
• March/April: Promote UD’s annual giving day — One Day, One Dayton — and share the impact of annual gifts to our community. Our most popular outreach period! Promote giving and sharing during a day that brings Flyers from around the world together to celebrate UD.
• June: Celebrate the recent graduation and help us achieve our fundraising goals for the year. This is the time to remind our friends to renew or establish their Front Porch Society membership by continuing their consecutive years of giving to UD.
• August: Join us in our volunteer recruitment initiative by encouraging fellow Flyers to sign up for a UD volunteer opportunity.
• Additional share opportunities throughout the year include messaging about Alumni Award nominations, campus news, student stories, the impact of giving and UD bragging points. We will provide this information to you throughout the year.
