The Master of Science in Applied Mathematics program is interdisciplinary in nature and offers an individualized plan of study to meet the needs and career goals of the student.
The graduate program combines a core mathematics background, a four-course concentration tailored to the interests and background of each student and a semester-long capstone experience.
The program consists of 33 hours of course work:
There are two required core courses (Real Analysis and Linear Algebra).
Each student designs a concentration, approved by the student's committee and program director, consisting of 12 hours of courses based on the students interest and goals.
Students take four electives (12 hours).
The program culminates with a Mathematics Clinic, an individual or small group project designed in consultation with the student's committee. This research project allows the student to apply mathematical or statistical methods to a problem related to their area of concentration.
Rooted in our Catholic, Marianist traditions, the University of Dayton is dedicated to being transparent and ensuring student success.
