Students who choose to study adolescence to young adult education are motivated to share their passion about their content area with young people. Many students in this program double-major in their field of study, and there are quite a few undergraduate certificates that can be added to this degree program that still allow you to graduate in four years.
This program is nationally recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Council of the Social Studies (NCSS).
Classroom observation and field experience begin during year one and continue during years two and three. During year four, you'll participate in student teaching. This full-time teaching experience includes supervision and evaluation to assist you in your continued growth and development as an educator.
By the time you graduate, you'll have 800+ hours of experience in local schools — double the State of Ohio's minimum requirement.
The Dayton Early College Academy (DECA) serves as a demonstration school for adolescence to young adult education majors.
