Visitors and Visiting Scholars

Roesch Library welcomes visitors and visiting scholars with educational and research needs not being met in a neighborhood library. While our collections and services are staffed and funded to serve the scholarly needs of the University of Dayton faculty, students, and staff, we strive to provide reasonable access to the collections, computers, and facilities for all users. We do make a distinction between access (library use) and borrowing (home use) privileges. UD students, staff, and faculty have priority for all services and computers.

Using Library Materials

Visitors may use library materials in the building and also borrow library materials. Members from OhioLINK institutions must present a valid identification card from their institution in order to borrow materials.

Members of the community who wish to borrow library materials for use outside of the building may purchase a visitor library card at the Circulation Desk, 1st floor.

Using Library Computers

Visitors not currently affiliated with the University of Dayton are limited to the Visitor Computers in the reference room on the first floor. These computers are located on the south wall, across from the reference desk.

The computers have access to the University of Dayton and OhioLINK library catalogs, research databases, government documents and other resources available from the library website. Access to databases and e-resources from outside the library is not available to visitors due to licensing agreements

All government websites are accessible.

Printing is available from the computers and will be charged to the user at the circulation desk.

Visitors engaged in library research have priority on these computers.
