von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center Director to Participate in ASME Global Summit on Engineering
Dilip Ballal, director of the von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center, will participate in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers global summit on engineering April 16-19, 2008, at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. This invitation-only event is limited to top 100 global leaders of the engineering community. The summit is a two-day forum that will engage global engineering community leaders in a dialogue about trends and issues likely to shape mechanical engineering over the next 20 years. ASME is inviting these global leaders to connect with the profession’s highest aspirations and help articulate a global vision for the future of mechanical engineering. ASME will publish a study report of the summit proceedings.
Ballal has served as a member of the steering committee to help organize this event. He is an ASME Vice President and Editor of ASME Transactions, Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power. He will moderate the panel entitled, Future World of Engineering—Critical Knowledge and Competencies. Some world engineering leaders scheduled to attend and speak at this summit are: Sam Zamrik, ASME President, Charles Vest, President of National Academy of Engineering, Washington DC; Mark Burgess, Chief Engineer of Boeing Phantom Works, Lu Yongxiang, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences; and G. Pillai, Chairman of Heavy Engineering Corporation of India.
